A PolisPlan Initiative

Contact - Engage - Participate

The Australian economy is in the midst of a major transition and the government is calling for an ‘ideas boom’. With cities also on the agenda, there is no better time to explore innovative ideas for the planning, development and building of cities, towns and villages. We are seeking partnerships with local governments around Australia who are interested in implementing strategic town planning policies that would enable and encourage investment in regenerative land development. Our aim is to support and encourage Regenerative Development. Therefore, as we develop the implementation process we will share relevant documents to assist others to implement this form of development. Download a flyer to start the conversation.

STEP 1. Find a Local Government Authority that has a similar vision. In our case, Tweed Shire Council (Northern Rivers NSW), has a Rural Villages Strategy that requires new development to be Regenerative. Download Tweed Rural Villages Strategy from Council website.

STEP 2. Start Conversation with Council Planners. Our discussion led to two workshops with Councillors and the preparation of a proposal outlining our concept, how it aligns with Council vision and how it might be implemented through the current planning regime. Download our proposal.

STEP 3. Formally submit the proposal to Council and ask for Council to resolve to support the further development of the project. Download Minutes of Council meeting (item 16).

STEP 4. Prepare a flyer that summarises the project scope of potential amendments to Council strategies, policies and plans. This helps frame the discussions with additional private, government and research partners by breaking the project into identifiable and manageable sub-projects. Download the 'call for partners' flyer that identifies deliverables for Councils.
